The Kiwanis Club of Hawthorne and the Rotary Club of Hawthorne/LAX/Lennox held their annual Police and Firefighter of the Year Luncheon. The event took place on June 3rd, 2026 at the Hawthorne Memorial Center. 

Hawthorne Police Officer Ryan Driessen was awarded Police Officer of the Year, while Captain Derek Urwin was awarded Firefighter of the Year. The luncheon was a good way to show appreciation, and to honor those who put their lives on the line everyday.
