The City of Hawthorne hosted a Black History Month Celebration in the lobby of City Hall. This is the 2nd annual celebration to commemorate the excellence of African America culture within the community.  During the celebration, the city gave out proclamations to African American educators from the Hawthorne and Centinela Valley Union High School Districts for their outstanding work as teachers and administrators. Author, civil rights activists and niece of Martin Luther King Jr, Donzaleigh Abernathy delivered a passionate speech expressing the deep meaning of Black History Month.
