Katrina Mannin - City Council

Katrina Manning currently serves as a Councilwoman for the City of Hawthorne, following her election to the City Council in November 2022. She previously held the position of Mayor Pro Tem from April 2024 to April 2025. During her tenure as Mayor Pro Tem, she demonstrated a steadfast commitment to public service, blending policy expertise, community leadership, and professional acumen to advocate for equity, opportunity, and growth throughout Hawthorne.

As Councilwoman, Katrina launched several impactful community events, including the City of Hawthorne's first-ever Women's History Month Celebration and an annual Mother's Day Brunch & Award Ceremony-both designed to honor and uplift the contributions of women in the community. She also secured a $750,000 grant from the Baldwin Hills & Urban Watersheds Conservancy to fund a new public restroom at Holly Park, a long-awaited infrastructure improvement. Additionally, Katrina successfully partnered with Supervisor Holly Mitchell's Office, the L.A. County Librarian, and the County CEO to coordinate an exterior remodel of the Holly Park Library, addressing an eyesore that had remained neglected for 35 years.

In light of the Eaton fires in March of 2025, Katrina initiated a book drive to support schools in need. She collected and personally delivered books to Pasadena schools to help replace those lost in the fires, providing much-needed educational resources to affected students.

Professionally, she has been a licensed realtor since 2003, specializing in probate real estate. Katrina finds immense joy in helping individuals and families achieve homeownership, especially during transitional moments in their lives.

Katrina holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She is also a proud graduate of the Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy Institute and earned a Women in Leadership (WIL) Certificate from CORO.

Her leadership extends into her community roles as the former President of both the Holly Park Homeowners Association and the Hawthorne Park and Recreation Commission. She initiated Hawthorne's first "Movies in the Park" series and produced impactful National Night Out events in collaboration with the Hawthorne Police Department-efforts that earned her the "Woman of Distinction" award from Senator Rod Wright.

Councilwoman Manning has championed numerous community-focused initiatives, including a valet safety program for Cimarron Elementary and the distribution of 400 free eyeglasses to local students through the Vision to Learn program. She also founded Math Maze, a math enrichment program serving youth ages 6-18.

Her advocacy as Holly Park President led to successful campaigns for speed bumps, park enhancements, and the passage of the Healthy Beverage bill. Katrina's work has earned widespread recognition, including:
* Citizen of the Year - City of Hawthorne
* Delegate Appointment - Senator Steve Bradford
* Woman of Distinction - Senator Rodrick Wright
* Woman of Influence - Los Angeles Business Journal (2023)
* CA Political Trailblazer Hall of Fame Award - California Black Women's Collective Empowerment Institute (2024)
* Unsung Excellence Award Nominee - Black Business Association (2024)

Katrina also serves on the College of Business Administration and Public Policy (CBAPP) Advisory Board at CSU Dominguez Hills and is a former board member of Northeast Community Clinic, which operates 18 clinics across L.A. County. She currently serves as Vice President of the Baldwin Hills & Urban Watersheds Conservancy, sits on the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) Advisory Board, and is the Board Secretary for the Black Nurse Practitioners of Southern California.

Councilwoman Manning resides in Hawthorne with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts, spending quality time with her family, and selling homes.
