Pursuant to Section 54974 of the California Government Code, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a vacancy exists on the Youth Commission. The duties and qualifications for the position are attached hereto.
Final appointment to the Board shall not be made by the City Council for at least 10 working days after posting of this notice in the office of the City Clerk.
The duties and responsibilities of this commission shall be as provided in this code or by the Government Code of the State.
2.17.070 Purpose—Duties and responsibilities.
The purpose of the commission shall be to coordinate and direct the resources of the city in conjunction with the four pillars: (A) education; (B) community service; (C) civic engagement; and (D) leadership. The commission shall have the duty to disseminate information relating to education, providing volunteer opportunities, encouraging a culture of college attendance, and promoting the youth voice in local government; it shall also have the duty, responsibility and discretion to make reports and recommendations to the city manager or to the city council.
