HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAM
The City of Hawthorne Housing Rehabilitation Program (HRP) provides financial assistance to low- and moderate-income homeowners to preserve and improve the quality of their homes. The program is designed to correct health and safety hazards, bring homes up to code, and ensure that properties remain decent, safe, and sanitary.
Eligible homeowners may receive grants to address necessary repairs, accessibility modifications, and other eligible improvements. Assistance is available for single-family homes, condominiums, townhomes, mobile homes, and properties with two units (as long as the owner occupies one of the units).
Grant Amounts:
- Up to $50,000 per home for eligible repairs
- Up to $25,000 for mobile or manufactured homes
- An additional $5,000 is available for senior citizens (62+), veterans, or households earning less than 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
- Applicants needing repairs beyond the standard limits may qualify for a one-for-one matching grant, for a combined maximum of $75,000
Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to funding availability. All applicants must meet HUD income eligibility requirements (80% or below of AMI).
