City of Hawthorne Unveils Exciting Lineup of Summer Activities and Events

Hawthorne, CA - May 30, 2024 - As summer approaches, the City of Hawthorne is excited to announce an array of engaging activities and events for residents of all ages through its annual summer brochure. From sports clinics to outdoor concerts, there's something for everyone to enjoy in Hawthorne this summer.

 

Concerts in the Park, Movies Under the Stars, and More:

From July 12 to July 26, join us for free concerts in Memorial Park on Friday evenings from 5 to 8 pm, and dance the night away to the sounds of 80s pop, disco funk, and a Selena cover band. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy food and jumpers at the event. After the bands play their sets, the dance floor will make way for our movies in the park series, which will take place from 8 to 11 pm, featuring family favorites like "Migration," "Kung Fu Panda 4," and "Trolls."This summer, Hawthorne will also be hosting a Juneteenth Celebration, National Night Out, and State of the City address. There's always something happening in Hawthorne!

 

Youth Sports Leagues and Summer Camps:

Join us for an exciting summer of sports camps and clinics, including basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Coaches will teach basic techniques and fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment. Registration is open until June 21, so sign up today!

 

Adult Classes and Senior Activities:

All Hawthorne community members can stay active and healthy with our adult classes, including yoga and dance fusion. For seniors, we offer a variety of activities such as walking, arts & crafts, and bingo. Join us for Tai Chi, Dancercise, pickleball, and more!

 

Aquatic Center Summer Swim Programs:

Cool off at the Hawthorne Aquatic Center with our summer swim programs for all ages and skill levels. From parent and infant classes to advanced swim instruction, there's something for everyone to enjoy in the water. Don't miss our recreational swim sessions and H2O aerobics for adults.

 

Park Programs and Wading Pools:

From June 25 to August 17, join us at parks throughout the City of Good Neighbors for recreational games, team sports, and free summer lunches Tuesday through Friday. Wading pools will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 3:00 pm, providing a fun way for kids to cool off and beat the heat.
