HAWTHORNE, Calif., May 1, 2025 –The City of Hawthorne and the Hawthorne Parks and Recreation Foundation hosted its 34th Annual Golf Tournament on April 21 at the Rio Hondo Golf Course in Downey, welcoming 122 golfers in a spirited day of community and fundraising.

This year’s event was made possible by generous sponsors, including Chevron, WOW Media, Transtech and Unify Financial Credit Union.

Proceeds from this year’s tournament will help finance a new digital billboard project at the Hawthorne Memorial Center, located at the intersection of El Segundo Boulevard and Prairie Avenue. The digital display will showcase City programs, resources and community events, improving communication and outreach throughout Hawthorne.

“The golf tournament continues to be a cornerstone event for community engagement and support,” said Community Services Deputy Director Kywanna Bowie. “We're excited to translate that support into a lasting visual resource for residents.”
