City of Hawthorne Announces Full Lineup of Summer Park Programs and Events
HAWTHORNE, Calif., June 23, 2025 – The City of Hawthorne Community Services Department is thrilled to announce a full summer schedule packed with family-friendly activities, including free park programs, youth sports clinics, movies under the stars and poolside cinema nights.
Free Park Programs at Six Locations
From June 24th through August 16th, kids and families can enjoy the City’s Park Program, operating Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following locations: Eucalyptus Park, Holly Park, Holly Glen Park, Jim Thorpe Park, Memorial Park and Ramona Park.
Daily activities include games, arts and crafts, wading pools and free lunches served Tuesday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public.
Youth Summer Sports Clinics at Betty Ainsworth
Aspiring athletes are invited to participate in the Summer Sports Clinics held at the Betty Ainsworth Sports Center. These eight-week clinics are open to all skill levels and feature instruction in basketball, volleyball and soccer by trained coaches who emphasize fundamentals, teamwork and sportsmanship; making each session both educational and fun at a low cost.
Additionally, Hawthorne has teamed up with the LA Sparks to present the Jr. Sparks Hoops Classic, a free basketball tournament happening July 13th-15th at the Betty Ainsworth Sports Center. The championship game will be held at Crypto.com Arena, offering girls aged July 13th-15th the thrill of competing on a professional court.
Movies in the Park Schedule
Enjoy warm summer nights with free outdoor movies and family activities at Hawthorne Memorial Park. Each evening begins with community activities at 6 p.m., and the movie starts at 8 p.m. All showings take place at 3901 W. El Segundo Blvd. The 2025 movie lineup includes:
- July 11: Minecraft
- July 18: Sonic 3
- July 25: Transformers One
Movies at the Pool
Families can also beat the heat and enjoy a unique cinematic experience during Movies at the Pool, held at the Hawthorne Aquatics Center, 12501 S. Inglewood Ave. Entry begins at 7 p.m., with the movie starting at 8 p.m.
Please note: No glass, food or oversized inflatables are allowed in the pool area.
