HAWTHORNE, Calif., May 20, 2025 – The City of Hawthorne has officially released its 2025 summer program, offering a wide array of recreational activities for residents of all ages. Hawthorne’s Community Services Department has rolled out a robust lineup of camps, classes, aquatics, events and senior programs that promote wellness, learning and community connection.
Highlights this summer include sports camps, dance and fitness classes, swim lessons, youth enrichment, pickleball and free movies in the park, all designed to support healthy lifestyles and inclusive engagement across the community.
Key offerings include:
-
Movies in the Park at Memorial Park (July 11, 18 and 25, starting at 8 p.m.). Bring your lawn chairs and blankets for family-friendly films, food vendors and fun.
-
Weekly summer sports camps for youth ages 5-12. Programs include basketball, soccer and multi-sport options at just $60 per week.
-
Extensive swim programming at the Hawthorne Aquatic Center, with classes for all levels, lap swim, water aerobics and a junior lifeguard program.
-
Dance and fitness lessons, including ballet, hip hop, yoga, zumba and ballet folklórico (Mexican folklore) classes.
-
Free senior programs, including walking clubs, chair yoga, pickleball and field trips.
Programs are hosted at parks across Hawthorne, including Memorial Park, Eucalyptus Park, Jim Thorpe Park and others.
Beginning this year, swim lesson registration is available online. Online and in-person registration for all summer programs is open as of May 23. The City encourages early registration as space is limited for many activities.
