Hawthorne, CA 90250

The City of Hawthorne has been notified by its franchise hauler, Republic Services, of a labor
stoppage impacting trash collection. This disruption is due to a nationwide sympathy strike in
support of union workers in Boston. While the underlying dispute is unrelated to the City of
Hawthorne, local Republic Services employees have joined the action in solidarity.

Republic Services has issued the following statement:

“Due to a labor stoppage beyond our control, there will be delays in trash collection. We are
working to resolve the issue and restore service as soon as possible. In the meantime, please leave
carts curbside for limited collection.”

Once the labor action concludes, Republic has committed to deploying additional resources to resume
and catch up on missed service throughout the City.
