Telle Town Hall Meeting
Our City Manager, Arnie Shadbehr, invites you to call to be part of a Telle Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, October 17 from 7 to 8 p.m. A telle meeting is when you call in on your phone and join the proceedings. The phone number to call is: 855-756-7520 Ext. 36529#.    This meeting will give our city manager an opportunity to explain what the tax proposal is that we will vote on in November.  The City is running a deficit. Without increasing our revenue, City services will continue to be limited.  Our police officers and city employees have had to made concessions in their contracts so that the residents can still receive the first class services that they deserve from the City.  So, before you vote, make plans to find out the real info regarding this measure.

 “Punch Your Lights Out!”
It was October 9, 2007, ten years ago this week that I began my political career.  I remember it well since October 9th is my ol’ lady’s birthday.  I went before the city council as a concerned resident.  At that time I thought the mayor and his buddies on the city council were playing games behind our backs.  I went to confess to them that I had written a campaign flyer for a council candidate that slammed the mayor’s “team” that had controlled the City too long.  Wow! I was not prepared for what happened after I sat down.  Each council member took turns blasting me accusing me of slander and threatened to sue me.  The highlight of the evening was when a council member told me that he had the right to jump over the podium and “punch my lights out”.  Being new to this political mudslinging, I was shaking in my boots.  At that time I had not learned how to “just go home and have a cold one”.  People who were there and others who viewed it on YouTube in the ensuing days and months, were amazed at that an elected official would actually physically threaten me from the dias.  Not much latter after that incident, I was encouraged to run for City Clerk.   Dummy me, I consented to placing my name on the ballot.  The rest is history.  The voters who voted me in must have thought I was an honest, fine outstanding man full of integrity.  Little did they know that they were electing a drunken old man who tries to write a weekly column full of nonsense.
