The Marriott Modular Stacking Event was held on March 6, 2018.

The Courtyard and TownePlace Suites Hawthorne, CA represents the 1st dual-branded project in the Marriot Modular Program. A crowd of more than 300 hotel developers, architects, investors and civic leaders gathered at the 4.2-acre site across from City Hall and watched a crane hoist some of the last remaining rooms atop the five-story development, which resembles a giant set of building blocks.

The building is constructed using pre-made modular hotel rooms that are built in Boise Idaho and trucked to the location across from Hawthorne City Hall.

Each modular box contains two rooms and a section of hallway. The rooms are shipped come ready-to-go with everything in place, from furniture and appliances down to the mini shampoo bottles and soaps on bathroom countertops. All they’re missing is bedding that will be added when housekeeping arrives for opening day.

The project is expected to be  finished by summer. The $86 million development will include a Marriott Courtyard with 221 rooms, an extended-stay TownePlace Suites with 133 rooms, and amenities such as a spa, pool, meeting rooms, a fitness center, barbecue area, sports court and a to-be-announced restaurant.
