Futsal Court Dedication at Jim Thorpe Park

The LA Galaxy Foundation in partnership with Herbalife hosted a grand opening ceremony to dedicate two new mini-pitches at Jim Thorpe Park on December 4, 2017. The field is opened in conjunction with the City of Hawthorne, Department Recreation & Community Services and Hawthorne Police Department.  Due to the overwhelming success at the Memorial Park Futsal courts, Herbalife and the LA Galaxy have come together to create two additional small sided soccer courts at Jim Thorpe Park.  A soccer clinic for 50 local youth immediately followed the opening ceremony.  It is the focus of the LA Galaxy Foundation and Herbalife to help children pursue healthy, happy active lifestyles.  Dignitaries in attendance included; Mayor Alex Vargas, City Council, City Manager Arnie Shadbehr, the Chief of Police Robert Fager, Recreation & Community Services Manager, Hawthorne Police Department, Director of the LA Galaxy Foundation Lauren Nowinski and Gyasi Zardes LA Galaxy Professional Soccer Player
