Chief Robert Fager presented the February Employee of the Month Award to Officer Shelly Yoshida.

Officer Yoshida  joined the force in 2014. She is an active mentor and program leader in the Hawthorne Police Department's Explorer post as well as the South Bay Explorer academy program. Her unique communication and persona allow her to efficiently mentor and lead young talent in the proper path. Her interactions have shaped the lives of dozens of youths. Recently Officer Yoshida has been assigned a new role as School Resource Officer for Hawthorne High School.


A presentation was given by Kevin Druan of Mobikes.  Mobikes is one of the world's largest bike leasing companies. The program would be at no cost to the City,  would help create jobs locally, help decrease impact on the environment and help people move from place to place within the city.


A Certificate of Recognition was presented to Jan Vogel for his outstanding work as Master of Ceremonies at the 2018 Business Expo.

Certificates of Appreciation were given to representatives from Urth Cafe and Al-Watan Restaurant for generously donating and providing food for attendees at the Business Expo.
