City Treasurer L. David Patterson

A native of Southern California, David has spent the last 14 years in service to his community and fellow man. David has been actively involved in the city of Hawthorne, volunteering his time to such organizations as the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, the Hawthorne Economic Development Council, and Hawthorne Teen Center. In November 2013, L. David Patterson became the first African American to be elected City Treasurer of the City of Hawthorne.  David was officially sworn in December 10, 2013.

David comes to the city with over 12 years experience as a Business Consultant and an Investment Advisor with a background in Insurance, Investments, Taxes, Real Estate, and Consulting.

His educational background includes an Associates of Arts degree in English from El Camino Community College, a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, as well as a Master of Science Degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Capella University.

David holds the following professional licenses; Series 7, 6, 63, 66, 26 securities licenses, Life & Health Licenses, Property & Casualty Licenses, and Real Estate Brokers license.

“I am excited to serve the City of Hawthorne as its Treasurer.  As Treasurer, I am committed to increasing the city’s revenues as well as strengthening the city’s financial position through prudent investing.   I look forward to increasing the communication between the Treasurer’s office and the public as well as working with the Mayor and City Council to attract new business and jobs to the city and its residents.”
